T-Series (company):
On July 11, 1983, Gulshan Kumar founded Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited, T-Series, an Indian music record label and motion picture production company. Indi-pop and Bollywood soundtracks are the two main musical genres. T-Series, Sony Music India, and Zee Music are the next largest record labels in India as of 2014. T-Series holds up to a 35% share of the country's music market. As of September 16, 2022, T-Series also owned and operated the YouTube channel with the most subscribers and views, with over 225 million subscribers. T-Series is best known as a music label, but it has also had some success as a production company for movies.
Before T-Series started creating original music, Kumar, who was originally a fruit juice vendor in Delhi, launched the firm to sell Bollywood tunes that had been stolen. Their breakthrough came with the soundtrack to the Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla-starring 1988 Bollywood blockbuster Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by Anand-Milind. The album became one of the best-selling Indian music albums of the 1980s, selling more than 8 million copies. With the release of Nadeem-Aashiqui Shravan's (1990), which sold 20 million copies and went on to become the best-selling Indian soundtrack album of all time, they ultimately rose to prominence in the music industry. On August 12, 1997, the Mumbai crime organization D-Company assassinated Gulshan Kumar. Since that time, his son Bhushan Kumar and younger brother Krishan Kumar have served as the company's executives.
As of 15 December 2021, T-Series' network of 30 YouTube channels—including Lahari Music—had more than 382.3 million subscribers. There are 13 company YouTube team members in the T-Series corporate office. [12] Music videos and movie trailers predominate on the company's primary T-Series YouTube account. In January 2017, it surpassed all other YouTube channels in popularity. [13] Hindi-language programming dominates the T-Series channel, with material sometimes also being produced in Bhojpuri, Punjabi, and English. Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, and Rajasthani are just a few of the Indian languages that the T-Series has channels devoted to.
